Innovative ways we improve outcomes for people and communities
About Mike Berlon
I’m Mike Berlon, a former criminal defense attorney that served time in prison. Now I work to improve outcomes.
My name is Mike Berlon and I am an ex-felon. I practiced law for more than 20 years and lost my entire career because of bad decisions I made. I know first-hand how difficult it is to come back to society, find a job, earn a living wage and get your life back on track.
At Prison Professors, we create tools, tactics, and resources to improve outcomes for people that experience any aspect of the criminal justice system. I’m proud to lead a team that collaborates and builds relationships. Together, we’re building solutions to the collateral consequences of mass incarceration.

If things look hopeless, you may be facing the wrong direction.

About Michael Santos
I’m Michael Santos.
As a person that served 9,500 days in prison, I'm striving to live as the change that I want to see in the world.
In 1985, when I was 20, I started making bad decisions. Those bad decisions led to a 45-year prison term. While serving that sentence in prisons of every security level, leaders taught me how to transform my life and reconcile with society. I founded Earning Freedom to be the change that I wanted to see in the world. Learn more about the impact our team is making.
It's never too early, and it's never too late to begin preparing for a better life.
